World Reining League gaat niet door

09-01-2012 - Helaas heeft de organisatie van de World Reining League moeten besluiten om dit $250.000 added evenement niet door te laten gaan. Er waren tot op heden te weinig kaarten verkocht, om dit grote evenement rond te krijgen.

Organisator Michael Miola schreef onderstaande brief aan alle World Reining League deelnemers. Deze brief was openbaar gemaakt op de facebook pagina van de World Reining League.

Dear WRL rider,

I am very sorry to announce that due to dismal ticket sales the WRL Shootout scheduled for January 19th through the 21st had to be canceled.

... It is Okay though, I am a big boy and can take my lumps. In hindsight having the WRL hold an event - let alone its first event in OKC was a wrong. Whereas I thought holding the event in the heart of reining was a safe bet, it turned out that having another horse show in OKC, even with a concert was as exciting as giving an Eskimo another brick of ice!!! Only 284 tickets sold 12 days before the event. YIKES!!! But, as I am fond of saying, an error does not become a mistake unless I fail to correct it. And I WILL CORRECT IT.

While I take full responsibility, I was given faulty information from which to base my decisions. Therefore, I have formed a new management team and we are going to do a complete analysis of everything that went wrong and then pick the right venue, time slot, etc. and get it right. Based upon all of the support I have been given by all of the leaders of the reining industry, who without exception agreed that canceling the event was the right thing to do, I am convinced that the WRL concept is correct.

After our internal analysis is complete I will be contacting the captains and members of both teams to discuss where and when we are going to debut the WRL. We will all work together to make this a success.
